What Happens In Vagus (Nerve)…
In 2019, my voice was so hoarse that people could hardly hear what I was saying.
Along with my hoarse voice, I struggled to swallow food, felt a burning sensation in my chest, and on several nights woke up gasping for air I was terrified!
After consulting with two different doctors, I finally received a diagnosis: GERD, or gastrointestinal reflux disease. When I heard this, my first thought was, hold on, I am not a middle-aged man! I thought GERD was something that happened after years of smoking and drinking too much beer.
My physician prescribed drugs (what a surprise), but not much else was suggested. So, you know me, I decided to take a deeper dive into the root cause of this disorder.
Guess what? I learned that the Vagus Nerve (the longest cranial nerve in the body) was probably the key player in fixing my symptoms.
I started to “work on” healing my Vagus Nerve. This included gargling and humming!
Today’s podcast guest, Dr. Navaz Habib, aka The Vagus Nerve Doc, confirmed that gargling and humming are two ways to support this nerve.
He had three additional suggestions that have been so easy to implement.
Seriously, I can support my Vagus Nerve in just a few minutes per day, usually while I am doing other simple tasks or running errands.
