Here’s my life-changing garlic blue cheese burger recipe!

These juicy bison burgers are packed with flavor thanks to smoky blue cheese, a touch of dijon mustard, and fresh chives. They’re perfect for grilling on the BBQ or cooking in a cast iron pan, and they’re sure to be a hit with your friends and family.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground bison
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2-3 ounces crumbled smoky blue cheese (choose good quality!)
  • Handful of chopped chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions: Watch me on Instagram on how to make it!

  1. In a large bowl, combine the bison, egg, garlic, Dijon mustard, blue cheese, and chives. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix well to combine, then form the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties.
  3. For best results, refrigerate the patties for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for extra firmness.
  4. Heat a cast iron pan on a grill or stovetop over medium heat. If using a grill, lightly grease the grates.
  5. Cook the patties for 3 minutes per side, or until cooked through to your desired doneness.
  6. Serve immediately on toasted buns with your favorite toppings.

Tips:

  • Bison is lean, so cooking them in a pan and letting all the yummy juices surround the meat is just about the best thing ever. 🥩I cooked them on medium heat, 3 minutes a side.
  • Top your burgers with additional toppings like caramelized onions, avocado slices, or a dollop of sour cream.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to feed a crowd.

Here are the reasons why I love using Bison in place of ground beef:

1. Higher amounts of omega three fatty acids.
2. More B12, zinc, iron, and selenium than beef.
3. Some studies show it’s got four times the vitamin E compared to beef.
4. Lower in calories and cholesterol.
5. It is lower fat, so it will cook faster than ground beef.
