What I’ve Learned in 2024

What I’ve Learned in 2024

I always love looking back on what I’ve learned and the first part of 2024 hasn’t disappointed. I’ve had some incredible guests on the show this year and I’ve taken the time to distill some powerful insights from our conversations. Today I want to re-share my top takeaways of the year so far.

First up, we have some incredible clips from Dr. Josh Axe, a world-renowned naturopath, leadership author, and speaker. Dr. Axe experienced a debilitating medical accident that left him unable to walk for a year, during which he wrote his book, “Think This, Not That.” The lessons he learned are truly golden, and I’ve picked my top four lessons to share with you, including the power of mindset.

Next, we’ll revisit our episode with Liz Curran from the Radical Remission Project. We explored the 10 healing factors common among individuals who achieve radical remissions from diseases like cancer. One fascinating topic was the concept of being “too good of a patient” and the importance of laughter in healing. Did you know kids laugh about 300 times a day, while adults only manage 8-12 laughs daily? It’s a reminder for all of us to embrace our inner child and find joy in everyday moments.

The last lesson I want to share came from Kris Carr, an Oprah Super Soul guest, and a 21-year cancer survivor. Kriss lives with 24 inoperable tumors and has learned to love her body, tumors and all. Her journey of self-love and resilience is profoundly moving, especially since I struggled with body acceptance after my own breast surgery.

Don’t miss these powerful lessons and heartwarming stories. Hit play now and get ready to be inspired!

In this episode

[04:52] Dr. Josh Axe on how negative emotions such as frustration, resentment, and especially unforgiveness significantly impact our body’s ability to heal.

[06:47] Neuroplasticity – the power of positive thinking.

[08:12] “If you believe you will heal, your brain will start creating new neural pathways, nerve tissues, stem cells, and other growth factors to facilitate the actual healing and repair of the affected area.” – Dr. Axe

[11:17] Why EQ is more important than IQ.

[13:23] “Self-awareness is a really important key to healing, being healthy and all you can be.” – Dr. Axe

[20:29] Liz Curran discusses the profound impact of laughter and positive experiences on healing.

[22:01] Liz recounts her sister’s heartbreaking battle with cancer. Despite being a “good patient”, her sister’s questions were often shut down, leaving her feeling hopeless and restricted in her treatment options.

[24:30] “People need to feel that their questions are valid, in need of answers, and deserve to be answered.” – Liz

[24:43] Introducing Kris Carr – Oprah Super Soul guest and 21-year cancer survivor.

[26:42] Sometimes, you’ll never get an answer to “Why?” when life throws you a major curveball, such as cancer. Asking “What?” may provide you with a greater sense of control during such challenges.

[27:05] “Making peace with my body is about loving and caring for all parts of me, even the parts of me that are struggling.” – Kris
