I’m going, to be honest- there are days when I want to give up. Whether it’s the news or a relationship issue, sometimes I get so overwhelmed with what’s going on around me.
And I know I’m not alone. I bet you feel, to some degree, something similar. Even when we try to ignore it, stress is something that continues to build until we snap.
So how are we releasing it? Let’s chat about it! For me, it’s all about baby steps.
I may not have time for a thirty-minute meditation, but I can take five deep belly breaths while on a Zoom call. If I can’t get in a hike, I can go outside and walk around the block.
When I can’t seem to get control of my mind, I can take my shoes off and stand on a patch of grass and pray. Being barefoot outside (grounding) can help to lower stress levels quickly. Praying connects me to God, and that always calms me down.
As a cancer survivor, I also have learned which foods are the best for combatting stress (more on this below!)
What baby steps can you take today to encourage yourself and remind yourself that you ARE IN CONTROL OF HOW YOU RESPOND TO LIFE?
I also love to listen to something inspiring- it helps me get out of my head and recognize the steps other people are taking to live a life they love.
The cool thing about listening to a podcast, for me at least, is I either take something away, relate to their story, or become inspired!
With that being said, I invite you to listen to Part II of “Christ Beat Cancer, Attitude is Everything!” on my podcast.
Last week we got a little taste of what it means to live this life, but this week we dive even deeper into what it means to create your best life.

Did you know your avocado toast might be helping your stress levels? Seriously!
During my breast cancer journey, I learned the impact of what stress can do on our bodies. For example, high stress decreases our body’s lymphocytes, the white blood cells that fight off infection.
So with that experience + knowledge, I knew I needed to incorporate more foods to help fight off stress! And here’s where AVOCADO come in:
- These guys help regulate blood sugar which can help steady your mood, even in times of stress.
- Avocados also include magnesium, which helps decrease anxiety, lessen panic attacks, and depression.
Another great thing to include in your anti-stress diet is green leafy veggies, such as spinach! This can help produce mood-regulating neurotransmitters, like dopamine + serotonin!
I have to admit; when I incorporate different foods that I know support my immune system and help regulate stress, I feel energized and ready to make my next move!
What do you incorporate into your daily routine to reduce stress?
